Why Sri Lanka failed in the final : Gotabhaya Rajapaksha

Defence secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa is of the view that Sri Lanka failed to win the T-20 World Cup due to a lack of self-confidence among the players.

He made the comment at a function today (Oct. 08) where 23 class one principals of Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service were commissioned as brevet colonels at the Defence Ministry today (Oct. 08).

The defence secretary said the national cricketers’ failure, for the fourth time at a world cup final, taught all the importance of leadership training.

He said he had discussed about this when he met cricket commentator Tony Gregg as well.

The defence secretary added schoolchildren should be taught by principals, teachers and parents on how to develop their leadership and decision making skills.
